The aim of conservation in Ancient Messene is to increase the understanding of the past by using safe procedures of technical examination, conservation-restoration and preservation of culture property. The structure and materials of the ancient artifacts or the subsections of the monuments and the extend of their deterioration, is determined by technical analysis.
The National Centre of Scientific Research "Demokritos", the Stone Centre, the University of Peloponnese, TEI of Athens, and others, have made archaeometric analyzes on material samples from the archaeological site, providing useful information to archaeologists and conservators.
Both monuments and finds are very often offered for studies (dissertations), for student placements and voluntary work.
